How do I check my activation?

See how to check whether your Zona Azul activation is valid in the app: time balance, plate, end time, and digital receipt.

You check your Zona Azul activation right in your municipality's rotational parking app, on the "activations" or "history" screen: there you'll see the plate, the start time, the end time, and the remaining time. As long as the clock hasn't run out, your space is in good standing.

Activation is the act of registering the use of the space and debiting the corresponding credit or time. Checking this record is what prevents the fine for irregular parking, set out in Article 181, item XVII, of the Brazilian Traffic Code (CTB), a serious offense of R$ 195.23 and 5 license points, with removal of the vehicle [1].

Where the activation appears in the app

In the driver's app, such as Digipare, open the active activations area. The fields that confirm validity are:

  1. Vehicle plate: it must be identical to the parked car's, with no typos.
  2. Start and end time: the space is valid until the marked end time.
  3. Remaining time: a countdown showing how many minutes are left.
  4. Location or zone: some municipalities tie the activation to a specific area.
  5. Status: an indication of "active," "valid," or equivalent, rather than "expired."

If all these fields match the vehicle and the current time, the activation is valid.

How to know if the activation is still valid right now

Check whether the current time falls within the registered window. If the end time has already passed, the activation has expired and the vehicle is non-compliant, even if it's still within Zona Azul operating hours. Renew through the app itself before the time runs out.

What to check Where to see it What it means
Plate Activation screen Must be the parked car's
End time Activation screen Compliance limit
Remaining time Countdown in the app Minutes until it expires
Status Status label "Active" = valid

Why check before leaving the car

Electronic enforcement reads the plate and cross-checks it against the activation record in real time. When the officer passes with the Electronic Ticketing device or the Olho Vivo reading vehicle, the system checks whether there is a valid activation for that plate at that instant. That's why the check needs to be done at the moment of parking, not afterward.

Common questions when checking

  • I activated and it doesn't show up: confirm that the payment was completed and that the app is logged into the correct account. Without confirmation, there is no registered activation.
  • Wrong plate: an activation with a different plate doesn't protect the vehicle. Cancel and redo it if the app allows.
  • No internet at the moment of checking: a valid activation made beforehand remains recorded on the server; the officer queries the database, not your phone.

Rules that vary by municipality

The fee, the maximum time per space, and the operating hours are defined by each city government, so the credit value and duration change from city to city. Always check the R-6b regulation sign on the street and the rules shown in your municipality's official app. Hours tend to concentrate on weekdays, but that too is a local decision.

The practical recommendation: activate when you park, check the plate and end time on the screen, and turn on the app's notifications to be warned before the time runs out.
